Default Don't want to damage my hood

This seems like the easiest part of an engine swap but it's not real clear to me at the moment how I am going to remove the hood.

I figure I unbolt the hood while the 2nd person holds that side then I scoot over to the other side and unbolt and assume I can trust the 2nd person to hold his side securly and not move it causing some bad torque type situation.

I don't want to do anything that would ruin anything. Anybody got any tips on how to do this safely?

How do you store it while it's off. I was just going to put some padding down in the garage and lean it against the wall with the two rear points sitting on the padding.

What I do is have another person on the passenger side hold the balance and I remove the bolts for the locking bracket and the hinge while I have one hand holding the front edge of the hood, then I catch the balance while the other guy holds the front edge and removes the other sides hinge bolts. the hood is real light so it is not a big deal. Helps if both have their own socket and wrench.

I can reach the hinge bolts through the bottom....remove the bolts, pull the hood latch and lift it off without raising the hood. Reinstall the same way. Very little chance for damage....I'm not sure you can reach the bolts from under on all years but it's worth a look

That's a great idea.

I'll have to look and see if that can be done.

You might want to scribe the hood around the hood hinge before unbolting it so when you put it back on your alignment is correct.

Just did mine, make a mark into the fiberglass with with a scredriver on two sides, and i just had my dad hold it while i pulled the bolts and it seemed real easy as long as the other person is paying attention

I can remove the hood on my 69 the same way, but first I remove the two top bolts with the hood open, then close it and I can reach the other 2 from the underside. I have been able to both remove and install the hood without help or damage, well maybe my back but not the hood!
