Can't believe I passed emissions testing!
My wife and I recently took my 79 in for state mandated emissions testing. We were worried that we'd be spending money on a lot of new parts, because the last owner of my car removed the A.I.R. pump and catylitic (sp?) converters.
The emissions techs drove the car into the lane, hooked up the exhaust pipe sensors, let it idle for about a minute, and then we were handed a form with a big 'PASSED' stamped on it. I'm not trying to look a gift horse in the mouth, but how could it pass with none of these emissions controls in place???

Does you state laws require a visual? If you car is in good tune it may pass the sniffer without the emmissions stuff or you might have gotten a classic car lover for a tech.

You can pass an idle test with most of the emissions equipment removed. If they do a loaded test you're SOL.
