steering on my 81 feels loose
it's way toooo easy to steer. it moves back and forth about 1/2"-1" really easy before it starts actually turning. i can actually steer with one pinky finger if i wanted. it's nothing like my 86's rack and pinion steering. what could be wrong?

Check your rag joint. It's on the steering column just ahead of and below the brake master cylinder. That could be the problem with your slop. For the EZ steering you are going to have to get a 4 wheel alignment done to check that problem.

Get someone to help you and look at the rag joint,steering box,control valve,tie rod ends, idler arm for any looseness. If you see the steering column move but not the pitman arm the box may need adjusting or rebuilding, the rag joint may have play it, work your way do to see where the problem is.
