At least I'm pretty sure that's what is wrong. The pump has been making a funny whine all week... I thought it was my imagination. Pressure was okay, car still ran fine. Now, today, I'm taking someone's 16 year old daughter to get her last paycheck and 200 yards from the enterance pressing the throttle results in a brief rev followed by a near stall.

Situation:

Car off... pump builds pressure.

At idle... pressure is sufficient.

As soon as the throttle is moved and more fuel is requested... pressure drops to around 5 pounds.

The pre-filter may be clogged or the pump may be shot. I'm not going to try to get a tow today. I hope it will be okay in the parking lot overnight.

It's funny though... I'm not pissed. Usually when something breaks I am but I'm surprisingly unbothered. (Despite a slightly awkward conversation explaining why I left in one car and came back much later in another.)

What lots it in I could use some parts! No way would I leave mine on an overniter

Dawg, I bet you're right. That hormone crazed kid probably put sugar in my tank hoping to break down with a sexy charecter like me. Nah, probably just some bad karma she was carrying around clogged the filter. Hey, this is easy (blaming kids) thanks for the tip!

Yes I do have the carb and 5 psi fuel pressure would work but I would have to stay at WOT the whole way home to prevent the pressure from going up.

I really didn't want to leave the car there overnight but I wasn't sure what jockys AAA would be able to round up on a holiday Sunday. Granted, today is still part of the holiday, but I'm more willing to give it a shot.

Sounds like a clog but you might check for a voltage drop at the pump when WOT.
