Solutions for Fuel Boil?
Like many, my 74 hesitates on hot restarts. I have the Holly Heat Shield being installed. I saw a forum post about a product from "Seals It" that insulates the fuel pump from the heat from the engine block. Has anyone tried it? What results can I expect from using braided steel lines from pump to carb? I know the stk ex man help hold the heat. Headers are down the road. What can be done now? TIA

You may want to consider a 1/2" phenolic spacer to keep the carb from being heat-soaked. $20 at your local parts store.

Rick I have the 1/2 inch wood spacer out of Jegs. It came as a two hole and I cut it out for open because of my single plane app.

Might check 2 items. First, is the fuel line or in line filter if you have one laying on the heads? Second, is the exhaust crossover open or closed, and if still in use, is the heat riser working? Check these.

You might want to make sure the vapor problem is not occuring in the fuel line. Are you running the return line? By keeping the fuel moving it helps to prevent this. If you are running only a single line, the vacuum from a engine mounted pump can lower the vapor pressure on the fuel and cause it to vaporize as it passes through warm areas. A fix would be a rear mounted electric fuel pump to pressurize the line, thereby raising the vapor pressure and preventing vaporization. Normally with the rear mounted pump you will need a fuel pressure regulator in the engine compartment.
