Fair price for an 82 California vette and what to look for???
I have a friend who is a DJ in the hollywood, CA area who is looking at an 82. I dont know much about the car and all she could tell me is that it is an 82 and about 70k miles. It seems that most 82's are clean and the only problem is the cross fire fuel injection. What should I find out about this car? Thanks

Ist thing to look for is the gaps in the doors, hood, lights, etc. If the gaps are more then 1/4-3/8 of an inch I would walk. Most guys will say you can fix gaps by adjusting this and that. THAT IS WRONG Gaps are a sign of bird gage, frame, windshield Rot also known as Vette Rot

Bought my 82 in Anaheim.
1) Interior might be sun baked.
2) Brakes might be shot.
3) Weatherstripping might be shot.
4) CFI could have issues-nothing more than any TPI system could encounter.
5) 700R4 could be slipping
6) Headlights might not pop up well.
7) Suspension components could be shot.
8) Rear end seals couyld be leaking
The good side is the Socal cars are usually rust free so there wont be any problems with frame, windsheild pillar, or door frame rust.

nope, 84 has L83 engine, same as the 82 with a different airfilter setup and a (little) improved ECM.
