I had an incident with my vette. (Long story short) I moved the wiper switch and smoke starting coming out from the hood there was a short and the wires were red and burning fast. I was lucky I was at home to put it out with some water.

Now, how many of you have a Fire extinguisher in your vette?

If you do, where do you keep it?

Where did you buy it?

I am going to get one just in case. Thanks for your time.

You have to get you one for just such emergencies. I keep mine behind the seats in one of the stowage areas. Fits in there just nicely. The automotive kind can be bought at any parts store. The kind like OHSIXX has is sold by Speed Direct, a forum vendor.

First thing I bought when I got the car, picked it up at Walmart 5 minutes after.

I use my speaker cabinet to hold it, looks cool, and the Ricers think it's a NOS tank.

Almost needed it today trying to start my brother's MGB for the 1st time in 5 years.

I always have had one the I keep in the back behind the seats. Have the same in my daily driver too!

I still have a little one velcroed in the tray above my jack compartment... but I also have one of the chrome ones from speed-direct on the bracket in front of my passenger seat!

1. My neighbor had an engine fire in his 71 Jaguar XKE. He couldn't even find his extinguisher (it was in the trunk). Fortunately a pizza delivery guy happened by and they put out the fire with soda.

2. Kid across the street used to have a friend stop by with a nice 68 Camaro. i asked about it, and it turns out it caught fire (probably a ruptured fuel line) and it totally burned to the ground..

Whats the most popular kind--the Dry Chemical or the Halotron--sounds to me like the Halotron, through more expensive might be the way to go just for the fact that it makes no mess or is non corrosive to metals and such.

Dry chemical eats aluminum. Case in point, we had someone accidentally activate the dry chemical system in the back of a de-ice truck at the airport. We had to replace everything including the engine (Ford 300), cost was around $12000 before we were done. Nasty stuff and if you breathe it, it can kill you. The particles are so fine that they get caught in your lungs and you can suffocate. Good subject, I'm glad to see it being discussed.

I've kept a fire extinguisher in each of my vehicles every since I had an incedent back in 1982.

That spring day I started my 1974 Kawasaki H1 triple and it burst into flame while I was sitting on it. It was put out and saved

Put one in the rear behind the drivers seat, im still planning on making a nice bracket for it, i think it’s an excellent investment and looks pretty cool. I feel a lot safer knowing i can put out any fires quickly and efficiently.
