Por15 And fiberglass
I'm going to Por-15 the majority of the engine bay today and I was wonder, the firewall is pretty grimey, I think it's fiberglass, would this be ok to Por-15? If so, how do I prep it, if not, what could I use? Thanks

I wouldn't. It is really a waste of money. Clean it, sand it, then paint with krylon semi-flat black.
Not only that, but the por 15 won't end up nice and smooth.

You can use POR15 on fiberglass. I used it on all of my wheelwells and frame when I did my suspension install this past winter. Just clean and degrease the area or you'll get fisheyes. Here's a pic.

I coated all of the metal parts that are attached to the firewall.
Even the AL rivets will benefit. Does it stick to clean 'glass - yup.
However - in the engine bay, I would not paint the entire surface with POR.
I too, would choose the semi flat black Krylon (unless painting to match exterior color).

Ive used alot of PORS products ,so im familiar with them. I believe them to be superior to anything else ive tried. You cannot use POR15 on areas of the car that the sunlight will shine on, otherwise, over time, the POR15 will discolor -- that warning is on the back of the POR15 can and on PORS website too. Thus, POR 15 is well suited for the underside of the car and wheelwells . I painted my entire engine bay with PORS Black Engine Enamel Paint including some metal parts and the fiberglass within the engine bay. The results were super. Before using POR paint, you are supposed to use the Marine Clean Degreaser which is compatible with POR paint for maximum adhesion. When using POR paint on metal parts, you should use the Marine Clean Degreaser followed by the Metal Prep , then the Paint. I like PORS Black engine enamel paint because it is so durable , is a semi gloss, and will take up to 500 f. continuously . If you are going to go to all the trouble of preparing and painting your engine bay...i would use POR instead of a cheaper store bought spray on paint which wont last anywhere near as long. The POR Black Engine Enamel Paint goes on easy and is thick so it covers very well ; one coat will do it. Sorry i dont have pics yet of my engine bay but i plan on shooting some pics very soon.

You can even use POR 15 with fiberglass mat. When it hardens it is very similar to the polyester resin normally used except it is a bit more flexible. A handy thing to know if fixing things like rusted out metal panels/floorboards.
I wouldn't use it in the engine compartment though. It won't give you a nice smooth surface. I'm with the others. Thoroughly degrease and use a semi-gloss black paint like the Krylon.
