Engine Shop Broke my block...
Grrrr... I sent my block out to be bored and then I got it back and sent the pistons crank and such off to the balance shop.... when they came back. My mechanic was checking the clearances, and they overbored them... grrr.... since my pistons are allready modified for the balancing, i can not return them... and then re-bore the motor. So I am forced to get yet another new block... fortunatly this one will not be at my own expense. hahah... The shop said they would take care of getting me a new one. But still, what a pain in the ****....

At least you Don't have to bore and sleeve, or foot the bill for new pistons. My friend bought a 427 from my dad and took it to have bored, and somehow they managed to get into the water jackets, NOW THATS BAD.
Sorry to hear about that, Good luck with your new motor!!!

If it is the orig block make sure you keep it, def adds value to the car if you sell it.

Did they automatically over bore it or did it reqiure a bigger cut to clean it up? There is a huge difference, but the result is the same. I would assume they will get you another used block and keep the old one to sell to someone else. A clean, prepped block is worth at least $400 and they will have no problem selling it to someone else. It's not really going to cost them anything to replace your's, but it shows that they are willing to make good and make you a satisfied customer.

Sounds like a pain, and a little extra wait - but at least they are making it right and not leaving you out in the wind. I just had my entire motor rebuilt - what was suppose to be a month job turned into 3 months and now my speed-O and AC dont work and my PS leaks - alls I got was a shoulder shrug!

What a great shop! If they actually do replace it, I'd do business with them anytime. Every business claims to be honest, few actually stand behind it.

They offered to give me a super good deal on a race block.. from Dart... because they feel bad. what do you guys think of those blocks? Is it worth a couple hundred more dollars?

All depends on what you intend to use your car for. For daily road driver, it might be a waist.

Machine Shop SNAFU's
It took me about a year to find a small block with the proper suffix numbers. It needed boring and decking. Well, they did a great bore job and the decking was terrific, except they decked the suffix numbers right off of the block. Hell, I could have just got a truck engine and had the same block as I do now.
