Default Help: Oil on the pedals and drivers floor mat

My floor mat seem slippery, at first I thought maybe I steeped on some oil, but I cleaned it. Today I saw some more on the pedals, My first thought is maybe is the oil gauge line. I am not sure. Well it got dark and I could not search anymore. Is there anything else it could be or do you think is the oil gauge line. If yes. Is it easy or difficult fix? Thanks.

My money is on the oil gague line, and on my 71 it's a pain to replace, the center gague console has to be removed and on a scale of 1-10 it rates a 7 in my book, pulling the engine is only an 8.

That's pretty much it, unless you have a hell of an engine leak and a hole in the firewall.

It's an easy fix. It's a nylon tube and two compression fittings. I put braided line in for mine, but don't remember for the life of me where I got it.

Are you sure it is oil and not brake fluid. On cars without power brakes the master cylinder can leak inside the car like that.

Kinda smells like a brake fluid thing--I am afraid if it was the oil line, it would have a tendancy to spray all up under the dash and the oil would show up in more places than just the drivers well. But, if it is the oil line might I suggest-

I recently installed that same braided stainless line. It wasn't bad to install, although I did have a hell of a time trying to locate a fitting to make the line connect to the stock oil gauge. The kit is made for an autometer oil gauge, so the fitting isn't the right size for the stock gauge. I ended up finally finding a fitting that will work from Autozone. It was some sort of brake fitting, but it worked fine.
