GOING TO TOUR THE BG PLANT TOMORROW
I wanted to take my car, kind of a going home theme as the '82 model run was the first production run at BG, however the 60% chance of rain in AL, TN and KY forces me to change to the SUV. Gas mileage will be a trade off as my wife and one daughter would've had to take my Spyder while I rode in the 'Vette with my other daughter...now we'll be one big happy family in our big ole SUV.
Oh well, I'll take 2Tone82 up in Sept for the 10th Ann rain or shine.
Are they still making C5s or has the line changed over to C6s only? I assume the Caddies will be in production as well.

Check that the factory is open. My understanding is that it shut down today, 7/1, for the start of their two week summer vacation and to start the assembly line change over for the C6.

My car was built in St Louis the home of the FAST C3's! No SMG "glass" either a hand built/painted production automobile, done by some of the finest craftsman to ever work in the auto industry!

Just checked on the Corvette Museum web site, http://www.corvettemuseum.com/plant_tours/index.shtml
and it is showing the factory closed July 2-16, 2004

I get the Museum email newsletter and the plant is to be shut from the 5th until the 16th of July. Not open on weekends either.
Got to the plant website http://www.bowlinggreenassemblyplant.com/
and check before you leave.
2 tours a day, 9am and 1pm Monday to Friday

Thanks for the heads up!
Wow, glad I checked this morning before we drove up. My wife and kids would have been really upset..me too, kind of like the Griswolds at Wally World!
I called early yesterday and the recording for plant tours only mentioned they were closed the 5th. Today (@ 0520!) the recording says they are closed the 2nd through the 16th...oh well, we'll go another day, it's only a couple of hours away...let the family

Re: GOING TO TOUR THE BG PLANT TOMORROW (Desertdawg)
It was rainy that morning as we enter the plant they had boxes of umbrellas to be given out. almost all the umbrella boxes look the same except the two end boxes my wife and I took the slightly different boxes. After the tour we didn't need the umbrellas to get back to our car so after our vacation. I opened the boxes and each box contain a set of strut rods for the Collectors Edition back glass. My guess the were running short and dropped them off by the front door and were mistakenly put aside the unbrella boxes?
