Default Muffler inlet/outlet - both offset?

going with Flowmaster 40's for 75 350 auto with Dynomax headers. Are the inlet/oulet both offset? I believe the ones I remember seeing were and I want to keep the stock look. Search did not reveal answer.

Thanks
Bob

I believe they are center in and offset out or the other way around.

My 74 and most of the pipes I've seen in the supplier catalogs are offset on both ends. Here's a pic of my stock mufflers:

Here's a pic of my Ultraflows which I got as a kit from Mid America. Notice that the inlet and outlet positions are reversed because the kit supplied inlet pipes are shorter than the stock ones. This necessitated moving the rear muffler hanger mount outward.

So they don't hang down from the sides, the older cars were angled too. This picture was taken from 3" under the car.
