The Spals are twice as much, by the time I get them up here I have to take out a mortage.

Go with the Spal, you will be happy. You don't need the duals, I have the high output single 16" Spal, and it is awesome. It pulls 2360 cfm under load, while most other fans are rated with no load. I found the same fan as mine for only $150 US at this place: http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/fan.htm
Or you can call Bill Kydd at Kydd radiator. He sells them and he is also one of the shops that Be Cool uses for R&D. His number is 519-432-2214, and he is located in London.
Don't tell me you're gona cheap out now after spending all that money on your new motor! You can drop by my place anytime you want if you want to see the fan in action. I can let the car idle all day long and it will never go over 190. The temp sensor is located in the passenger side cylinder head, and it switches a relay which turns on the fan....pretty simple.

The Spal fans I was looking at are duals at Dewitts and they are $395USD and the Flex-a-lites are about $225 USD. I don't want to spend twice as much if the Flex-a-lites will do the job. I also do not have a hole in my head for temp sensor

I have run the Flexalite 210's for a couple of years. They have worked fine. My car's coolant temp doesn't get above 160 F in the summer, although I don't have AC. When you are in motion the fans rarely, if ever, come on. You can use their radiator hose kit to mount the sensor bulb in the upper radiator hose (comes with the fans). I haven't had any issues to speak of other than the fans suck a lot of amps (which I am sure all electric fans do), and I had to get a bigger alternator. I have seen the Spals in person and I am sure they are better fans, but so far I don't see the need to upgrade.

Hey Wayne, how's she running? I'm heading out to the strip on saturday with a stack of carb spacers and some jets going for that 11.99 on street tires! :
I am using the 210 Fans with my 406, the hottest it ever got was 205 in 104F weather idleing in a parade. This is with a 31x19" Griffin radiator. Hard to beat for the money.
EDIT: I should also note that I"m running a Wieand Team-G waterpump which does not favor low rpm flow at all.

Het Travis the motor runs great, it is so much fun to drive. I can't believe you can have this kind of power and still cruise around town at low RPM's if yow want to. The solid roller is great I have adjusted it once after about 500 miles and I wil check it again in another 1000 or so. I idles at 750RPM the power brakes work fine and I have no pinging with 11:1 CR. THe ony problem right now is traction but maybe that is saving my rear end, was thinking about drag radials.
I am pretty sure my clutch fan does not work as I put a piece of masking tape on a fan blade and attached the other end to the shroud and started the motor up and the fan did not even move. I was already warmed up so there is not resistance there at all to spin the fan, the only cooling I was getting was when the car was moving, so I would imagine the Flex-a-lites will work fine as I will only need them when idling.
Good luck at the track and post the times, BTW what is the altitude correction for that track about .5 sec ?

Hey Bruce thanks for the link will look into the Spals too, $150 is just for the fan right, you still have to buy additional stuff like themostat wiring harness and relay etc. ?

It looks like the radiator is certainly doing its job.
Yes, the altitude correction is ~.5s for my times. The actual NHRA correction factor is .95 for ET and 1.05 for MPH. So my best run, sealevel corrected is 11.59 @ 119.6 MPH. If I can get down to 11.5 at this track its a 10.98 at sea level. Not bad for narrow street tires, and 3500lbs (oink).

Oh, and I don't have the extra load of AC.

Have those fans and they work fine for me, I used the zip tie fastners to attach them to the rad. I had bad luck with one of the thermometer type temp sensors in the past so I just use a hard wired switch now.
