Re: Transmission oil temp. (T-Top Tom 1)
My tranny fluid runs around 150 to 160. I noticed a BIG drop after using an aux cooler rather than the integrated cooler in the rad.

I have a temp gauge. The sender is located in the rear of the pan. I have a B&M cooler that DOESN'T go through the radiator and a deep pan with Royal Purple synthetic. Normal driving in the Summer is 160-170, 10-20 degrees cooler in the winter.

Using a B&M cooler in line with the stock rad & am running at 130 highway driving in OD (TH200-4r) & 150 around town when using the low gears (1,2 & 3). According to Bowtie Overdrives the ideal temp for trans fluid is 150.
Without a B&M cooler the fluid was well above 150.
Without a B&M cooler the fluid was well above 150.

Re: Transmission oil temp. (UKPaul)
Thanks to you all for your info. I want to put a gauge on my 74 and see what it runs then change to a Derale oil pan that I picked up. In their ad they say their pan with cooling tubes going thru oil pan will cool oil 20-50 degrees. I find this hard to believe but will find out and post results. I put in a TCI Break-a-way converter and want to make sure that I'm not getting oil too hot. Thanks again.
