Default How to polish your mags?

On the 78 I have American racing 200s polished alloy wheels. They have lost thier luster. I can not seem to make them shine real fine. How can I get them back too life?

Friend of mine showed me this thing.. the FLITZ ball....beats rubbing by hand, whyich I have done. It does a nice job. Most of the GOOD GUYS shows or any decent car show with vendors you can find the kit. Comes with polish and the ball, about 20 bucks.....you just need a nice variable speed drill.

JBR, some local Hot Rodders told me about a product called X-TREEM Metal Polish. It comes in a small container with rolled up gauze soaked in a cleaning solution. You cut off about 3 inches and that will do four wheels. Yep, you use some elbow grease but I have been very pleased. It comes from X-TREEM Products Dallas, Tx (800) 998-7336. That's on the container.

I use Mother's mag polish on my wheels. It works good, but it will wear your hand out doing all 4 wheels.

Once you get them nice and shiny, what can you do to KEEP them that way? Is there something you can put on them that will prevent corrosion and hazing, repel brake dust and road gunk? Some kind of wax? Silicone spray?

How about clear coating? I know clear anodizing is normally pretty cloudy and dull.

The best stuff I've found is the Wenol polish. Lots of elbow grease, but works great. The red tube is for bringing back oxidized surfaces. The blue tube is for regular maintenance of a good surface, and the pink tube is more of a protectant with very little polish.
