You should be able to get it down with a floor jack and a friend's help.
The vette will need to be raised about 12 inches to easily clear.
Just be careful it doesn't roll off the jack and land on yoru finger.
If you drop one on your finger - you will remember that for life. I do.
As far as tools, you should have most of what you need in a basic tool set.
Extensions and flexible joints help to get at the middle bellhousing bolts.
You'll probably have to get the top ones with a box end wrench ... get these
first - so you can take them out by finger - if loose enough. Other than that,
it should be pretty straight-forward.
Good luck

Re: Never dropped a th-350 (munday)
I bought a long 3/8 extension (about 20 inches) and I use a u joint adapter to get to bell housing bolts from under the car. I would say the MOST IMPORTANT thing is when you are putting the tranny back in the car make absolutely sure you have the torque converter pushed into the pump and locked in place correctly I have seen two things happen. Once the pump was wasted in 2 days another thing I have seen is the constant forward pressure on the crankshaft wore the thrust bearing out and make the crankshaft slop back and forth and lost oil pressure ruining the motor. Make sure you flush your tranny fluid system very thourouly so there are no metal particles in the system that will ruin your new tranny. I hope this helps

And make sure you put a support under the rear of the oil pan so the motor doesn't tilt once you drop the transmission. It's really a pretty easy job. I recommend using a long extension and getting the bolts out from the bottom. The only problem I had when removing mine was it got hung up on the shift linkage, and then when I popped it off the transmission started to fall that way. But I caught it and I still have all my fingers. Drain the fluid first, make it lighter.

Being hard headed and also a cheapskate,I've done this many times using a floor jack and cinderblocks with wood shims.I must admit taking them down is a whole lot easier than putting them back.Make slight jacking adjustments and stop and put blocks under the front and rear of the trans. If it slips off the jack, the fall will be minimal. The process is not that hard,I've done it alone many times.
I also used to bench press them in when I was younger and didn't realize how fragile life really was.
