will vortec heads and vortec performer intake fit
Will the vortec heads and vortec performer intake fit under a 1978 hood
with the original carb and air breather. Has anyone used this setup. I saw
an article on a 1979 in corvette fever with the 330hp crate motor which stated
it used the performer intake and it had the oem breather on it. Edelbrock
cataloque says it won't fit under corvette hoods.

Re: will vortec heads and vortec performer intake fit (masters)
I am considering putting a set of vortec heads on my 77. From my research this should increase compression to just over 9.5 to 1, then I can use a comp cam xtreme energy 268 or 274. If you are changing your cam, you have to becareful of the lift, stock vortec heads can't take anything over .490. A couple of weeks ago, at the Pontiac NHRA nationals, I talked with the people at Eldebrock. They said a performer would fit, but a Performer RPM won't. I am sure since they build carburators they wouldn't suggest using a Holley with a drop base air cleaner which should pick up about 2 inchs. I have a performer RPM and a Holley street Avenger on a 350/330 HP in my 72 Nova, if you want some measurements. Thats my 2 cents.........
