Solid, rubber or poly engine mounts??
I'm planning on getting new engine mounts when installing my new engine (as soon as I get it)... I wonder what the best type of engine mounts would be for a radical solid roller small block... I don't think that solid mounts would be a good idea because of the vibration transfer from the engine to the frame etc...
What would be the best mounts for such application??

Oliver, I went w/ Energy suspenion Poly mounts on my BB. They told me they had the strength of a solid but without the vibrations. I'm pleased w/ mine.

I used the Energy suspension poly mounts with my ZZ4 swap and have been pleased with the results.

I replaced just the drivers side with poly and could not feel a diff but the eng barely moves now, before I could see it torq aways over when driving without the hood. I wanted to keep one rubber one to help absorb the vibes and it seems the driver side is usually the first mount to go so I put the poly on that side.

I used Moroso solid mounts for the engine and trans. Love to feel that big cam hit. Plus with the lack of space with big headers and 3" exhaust, I didn't want things moving around.

502,
what is the proper part # for the solid engine mounts? I have energy susp. ones but want to get rid of them since I am running only a urethane trans mount and solid mid mounts.

BTW
If you are mixing mounts make sure your trans mount is at least as flexable as your motor mounts meaning don't use a solid trans mount with poly or rubber motor mounts or you can tear the trans apart but you can use a rubber trans mount with solid or poly motor mounts.

I agree with everyone above.
After ripping three stock rubber mounts in half with a 190hp stock 1976 L48 motor. I went with Engery Suspension Poly motor mounts a few years ago and have never looked back. I recommend them highly.

Good question.
I would have thought with Olie's motor he would have to do the solids.
Glad the poly's work. Ill keep that in mine. you know. that stock L82 has a ton of torque

Re: Solid, rubber or poly engine mounts?? (GrandSportC3)
I autocross, road race and drag race. I did not have good luck with the rubber motor mounts. Drag racing ripped two of the mounts but I'm guessing the autocrossing wore them out.
Racing = finding the weakest part
I have a new motor going in later this summer. I am going to reuse the Engery Suspension units. Get black, they look like stock units.
