Default Steering Wheel for 1976

I understand that the original (ugly)steering wheel for my 76 was only produced the one year.(thank god) I'd like to change over to one of the classic designs available in the early C3 years. Has anyone ever done this? Is it possible? Are there any web sites that show what's available? Any info would be great.

Your 1976 steering column (not the steering wheel, horn, and telescoping hardware) but the steering column is identical to the 1969 through 1975 columns. Therefore, if you get a 1969 through 1975 steering wheel along with its hub and all the horn, telescope parts and other hardware, it will bolt
right up to your steering column.

The following paper will explain the installation:

Thanks Jim. I knew you could help but they are two identical posts on the same subject from the same author. I took your name in vein on the other. But I know he has now been guided in the right direction!

You must have got the Vega/Camaro all purpose Chevy steering wheel. Vette owners have long griped about that. You got the nicer wheel only if you ordered the tilt/tele wheel.

My brother's 76 has the Vega wheel and tilt/tele. So you did not get the nicer wheel with tilt/tele. I changed my entire column out for one out of a 73. It's nice to be able to have options in what steering wheel you want.
