Brew, If you plan to keep the car for a long time and you are not making it a show car, paint it your favorite color. Its your car so enjoy it. JMHO

I think you should also paint the car whatever color you want, because its your car and you should do whatever makes you happy! I know when/ if i ever get to that stage of my restoration my baby is gonna be Rallye Green!!
Good luck choosing a color and make sure to post pics!-Danny

go with what your heart tells you
everyone will either say go original, or their own color.
I went with Electron Blue 2 years ago and it was the best move i ever made, But people told me to keep it white.

do what YOU want to do, I will say though to stay away from "stock" colors, they are boring, especially red, every vette is red, my 77 is currently maroon but I will be going to GM Cobalt blue after seeing a chrome bumpered shark on the forum here in that color I KNEW it was the color I wanted. Sorry but I can't remember who's car it was, someone want to chime in?

I agree with doing what makes you happy. If you are going to keep your car for the long haul, paint it your favorite color. I painted mine black because that is my favorite color on a chrome bumper vette. Also, black was not a factory color for my year. Mine was originally Donneybrooke Green, when I got it it was white. So do what makes you happy. Its your money and your car.

You should paint it the color that you want. Not what others want, not what the factory wanted...what you want. You'll be most happy that way.

Just because my car is burgundy, basically, I will not promote that color, allthough it's not BAD, it's that I"m tired of it.....
so there are 3 options far as I"m concerned.....
all involve stripping to the bare bones, and starting over.....with a ONE STEP PAINT, NO CLEARCOATS to loose/fade/change over time....urethane is the way to go....
so....
'70 Caddy Firemist GREEN!!!!
or....
Late vette/caddy Mag RED.....
OR
the Mako Shark show car colors....rendered in paintings....
white on bottom fading through yellow/green/blue-green/blue/dark blue/black on top.....

Re: what color do I need to paint my car (mrvette)
I wish i had a favorite, I was almost postive about the daytona yellow then after seeing one in the museum I think its a little to light, It did not show the lines like a darker color, the L88 hood I got for it was painted red and after looking at it on the car i cant decide now i have been trying to look at as many diffrent colors as i can but ill try to find one that tickles my fancy
