Default Beginning to figure this out...

Hey all,

I'm a new Vette owner and forum user. I recently purchased a 1978 Silver Anniversary C3 (http://www.villagephotos.com/pubbrowse.asp?selected=922549); we're still getting acquainted – I can say, however, I Love driving it! My other vehicle is a 2001 F250, 4x4, V10; quite a different experience.

I'll be searching around the posts here looking for advice and most likely learning quite a bit; not too difficult since I'm start out not knowing anything.

My endless admiration for the C3 inspired me to purchase the vehicle. My objective is to continue the previous owner's restoration process. My restoration objective is to keep the car stock. More specifically, I need to learn what I can realistically change/upgrade without affecting status as a stock vehicle or negatively impact the value of the vehicle. ?!?!? There’s always a tradeoff. Anyway, I've already found this forum to be quite useful; searching for and finding helpful advice regarding cabin heat. So far my favorite sarcastic advice to resolve cabin heat, “take the tops off”.

Work is going to keep me very busy for the next few months, but at some time, I'd also like to join y’all in a local cruse or something somewhere – good excuse to just drive. I got funny looks from my wife the first time I said I was going out for a drive and didn’t return home until hours later, little sun-burn. Love it — love it — love it!

I live in Northern Virginia, just outside Washington DC. I'd enjoy hearing from y'all anytime – 0013@smartneighborhood.net. Until then… please excuse my silly questions, I'm learning.

Cheers,
0013

hi there.

Just about anything that bolts on and off. You keep the original and if need be, it can be put back on at a later date. If you want a truly stock vette, you will have to replace worn out parts with new or used correct ones. Check out the Factory correct restro forum under the General Corvette Topics for additional information along these lines.

Welcome! I am into keeping everything absolutely original as well. Why make any improvements that 30 plus years of increased technology offers?

Just sorta stupid! So, keep it stock if it makes you happy.

Welcome to the greatest forum on the net. Glad you found us. You will enjoy spending time here almost as much as spending it driving your vette. If you have any questions, fire away, someone has surely experienced the same problem and has got it figured out.

Congrats on the new vette.
