Default Temperature & Guage Question

How or where to check if the temperature on the guage is correct?

Pull out the sensor and stick it in boiling water. If the guage reads around 212 it's correct. That or use one of the laser temperature readers.

Or you can use the old fashioned method of using a meat thermometer in the radiator and compare it to the gauge reading. This should get you at least close.

Good Luck!

Well sticking the sensor in bioling water would be too hard. I don't mind buying a Thermometer if I can get one for cheap ($20-). The meat thermometer in the radiator sounds like a cool idea but, how would you place it in the radiator so you can get a good read?

A meat thermometer is usually a round dial on top of a long spike. (the spike is stuck into the meat to check the temp). I've also seen digital thermometers that are placed outside the oven and have a probe which is stuck into the meat while it is cooking. Just remove the radiator cap and put the spike into your radiator so that it's immersed in the coolant. (just remember to remove the radiator cap before you let the car warm up, DO NOT remove the cap if the car has been running.)
