WHAT IS CAUSING H2O TO LEAK FROM MY EXHAUST?
Just installed a pair of flowmaster 40's on my '76 and noticed blackish water
leaking from the sweep pipe from the muffler where it clamps to the main
exhaust pipe. It starts to leak out just after startup and appears to be worst
on the driver's side, had no such problem when running the previous mufflers.
I 'm not sure if this happens just on startup or not.
thanx wade

It's nothing to worry about, it is just moisture that accumilates in the system as it cools off. Water is one of the by products of an internal combustion engine.
You know the white exhaust smoke that you get on cold mornings? That's some of the water.

If you live in a humid area, after a period of time, this can become a point of rust through (unless everything is stainless steel). I saw a post somewhere that showed how to drill small drain holes to eliminate standing water. Just a thought...
Also, with a little practice, you can time the starting of your engine with the passing of a pedestrian behind your car. Watch how mad they get when their pants are wet with black droplets...
