Default Emission testing

Any tips to help in passing an emissions test on an 82 Crossfire? It is just barely failing on hydrocarbons.

To date this is what has been done in the past few weeks. New catalytic converter, new exhaust system, new plugs, new O2 sensor and timing check.

Its 3 more years before I can get historic plates that will exempt me from all emissions testing. Need to get it to pass or get an exemption before the state will issue plates. I have already met the dollar amount required for exemption but I'd really like to get it to pass.

Any ideas out there?

Be sure the engine is thoroughly warmed up before the test. Retard timing a few degrees. Replace plug wires, cap & rotor.
