What's a nice original 68 'vert worth?
My friend of my mom contacted her because she knows I'm a car guy and asked what she should ask for her husband's 68 convertible (he's passed away). It's a 68 327/350, 4-speed (original drivetrain), with power brakes and both soft and hard tops (no other options), and has about 55k original miles. I asked a few questions and found out it hasn't been registered since 82 but it runs and drives fine, and the the headlight and wiper doors all work, as do the fiber optics. The body is original as well as the paint, and she says it looks great.
I'm gonna try to get a look at it this week. If it's decent I might either, a) buy it, or b) offer to help her sell it. Either way, it seems like a very nice, unmolested, original car.
I'll follow up when I get more info but what do you think is a good price?

Wow. Sounds like a good find. Could you live with yourself if you said it was only worth $300. Heck, I'll give you $600 for it and you can double your money in no time
I'll be interested to hear what people say. If it's relatively rust-free, then I'd put a minimum price of $15k on it.

In the corral at Bloomington there was a very nice red '68 roadster for $19.5 that probably could had been bought for $18K.

I would put it at $18-22k. This is a 2-top roadster. If it's all there and everything works I think $15k is too low. JMHO.

She said it's white with a blue interior. Not my favorite but what the hell. Hardtop and softtop and white also.
Usually numbers matching cars aren't my thing. I like to 'play' a bit and not worry about damaging the collectability or value of a car. If this is as nice as she suggests I might have to bend my rules and go with an original car. Otherwise I'll probably take a bunch of pictures and post an ad here on the forum.

I'm heading over to have a look on Thursday. I really don't need another car right now but I'll go in with a $15k offer and see what happens. If she doesn't bite and the car is nice enough, I'll offer to help her sell it and take a bunch of pictures. Wish me luck!
