Another reason water beats anti-freeze
I broke in the cam Saturday running 100% water. Then when I got done I had a brainfart and remembered I didn't have the radiator cap on even 1/4 turn. Well, it wasn't leaking, but I thought I should close it. Yeah, I know, It's HOT! :bb Cap came off and had a 2 inch column of water like Old Faithfull spewing about 4 gallons of 200* water on the wall and floor. Thankfully only a few drops in the car and the rest evaporated by morining.

Yes, I agree - If you are going to open a hot radiator in your garage it is much better to use 100% distilled water than an antifreeze/water mix. Much easier on the pass side carpet also if the heater core fails. Ever seen what happens when the oil pressure guage leaks behind the dash? Might be better to use water instead of oil. Similarly, if you have a leaky gas tank, it is much safer to fill it with water than gasoline!!

For what it's worth.....
I seem to recall that several Pro Stock teams, amongst them Warren "the Professor" Johnson, conducted their dyno-tests WITH anti-freeze, as-opposed to straight water, in the early/mid '90s, but I can't remember 'why'...

That happened to me once, but I was in the way of the hot water stream. Red tummy for a few weeks! OUCH!

Anti-freeze has a higher boiling point and a lower freezing point so it helps in both cold and hot situations.

but water has better heat transfer, so if you have overheating problems run water in the summer.
i run water when roadracing.
its a must do kind of thing.
