Mods to preŽ86 block if installing solid roller cam/lifters?
Ok Im confused, I know I need a retrofit kit if I want to install hyd roller cam and lifters on my old block, but is that the same with solid roller?

You need retofit lifters and cam wihether it is hydraulic or solid. The lifters have link bars between pair and this prevents them from twisting on the cam.

You might want to read through this thread on how to convert you block using GM rollers out af a V6. I know of one guy with an 84 that has done this, and is happy with it.

Ok so how do you tell the diffence? do it have say retrofit? would these do?:

I havent decided on rebuilding my own 350 or bying a 400 I have on hand. Both of them needs rebuilding.

Thats an interesting read! but beyond my ability
Im getting a machine shop to prep the block.
i was just wondering about the "retrofit" lifters because they seem twice as expensive as the other roller lifters.
