I had installed one of those YEARS ago in an old Camaro I had. It really "woke up" the 1-2 shift when you were on the go pedal. It would chirp the tires even with the worn out lo-po 307 that was in it. Nice part was that when you were driving normally and not standing on it, the shift was close to normal and no too abrupt.

I would do it again if/when I had/have another performance vehicle w/an automatic trans.

Hope this helps. Good Luck!

It is included in the TransKit that I rebuilt the TH400 with.
Like ACECO said - it really can wake up a low performance V8.
The first day driving mine, I was cruising the highway. As I approached
an 18 wheeler on his left, he signaled to switch lanes. Oh no - I pegged it
and my 115k mile '75 L48 with 3.08s in the rear downshifted at 60MPH
and barked the rear tires nicely before launching me past the truck.
Under normal conditions, the shifts weren't too hard.

I set mine up with the street/strip option. I think there were three level - that being the middle.

Got one in my 81 and like everyone else it did wake up the 1 2 shift..
I just had the transmission rebuilt and he did soften up the 1 2 shift just a little. Still shifts nice and crisp and will bark the tires when you are on the go pedal..

I was told the TransGo kits were of higher quality. I put one in mine and am very satisfied.

I think the shift kit does wonders for the car. I would not hesitate putting one in. Here is a link to my prevous post after installing it.

I have one in my '76 with a stroker engine. Great! I run a 2500 stall convertor in it too but even so, the 1-2 shift is terrific. (high stalls soften shifts)
