I have an L79 that has never been wrecked but needs new paint and new interior. Should I keep the original colors- Exterior - Bronze(orange)Met.-Interior Dark Orange? Would it decrease the value if I changed the colors?

Changing the color will only decrease the value if the car is somewhat original. If you intend to modify it or if it doesn't have the original drive train then do what you like as far as color, interior, and anything else.

Original color only means something to someone who is interested in doing an NCRS type restoration. If they are they will not be interested in a car with a color change or drivetrain change. That would only mean more work to do a correct restoration.

what is you faviort color combo? it is your car I would go for the original color combo. and yes it will hurt the value of the car if you change

I understand what you are saying! I have other favorite color combos,but I want to do the right thing since it is so expensive and alot of work to change.The car is all there and the body is very straight! All numbers matching! I know it's my car but what would you do? I want the car to be a real LOOKER! Regards , Duane

Probably decrease. If you are not happy with the colors, paint it to satisfy yourself. Mine WAS WBY. No longer. If the next guy wants NCRS, its on the data plate. I have been looking at this beauty for almost 20 Yrs and never regretted changing the color.

Maybe burgundy exterior and black interior? Does the bronze and dark orange interior suck? You remember how some of the colors in the 60's weren't that great!

I guess it also depends on how long you intend to keep the vette. If you plan to sell it soon maybe its best to paint it the original color, but if you keep it for a long time by the time you may sell it it may need another paint job anyways.

My '68 was originally Bronze/w burnt orange interior. While the color is different, it wasn't for me I went w/ red/red.

Well, as others have said, if it is a very original car, it would be better to keep it that way, but in the end, it is YOUR car to do with as you please. Are you using it as an investment? or is it your toy?

The decision for mine is to keep it red even though it was a white vette. The previous owner painted it red and it still sold to me. I will be repainting it with a custom paint job and possibly air brushed flames or art, but not sure. But mine is a 76 L-48 which doesn't compare to the value of a 68. Have fun with it and weigh out your options.
