What do I run???......
Whatever brand is on sale. All of the major brands and store brands meet the API standard, which is MUCH more stringent now than it was when my engine was new.
I change it so often that I really don't need a brand loyalty, and I personally don't see the point of paying big bucks for synthetics.
I don't have a new engine in my car that requires synthetic, not to mention the fact that synthetics tend to leak past the seals of older engines.
I save the $$$$ and put it towards other things.
Just my $.02

Motor oil is motor oil it's not what brand it's when and how often you change it and a few other important maintenance items as well.
Now before you all go off on me I will give an exception to High performance (non stock) engines that need a little extra bearing load protection than a standard oil can provide.
Just my .02 worth

Mark, I tend to disagree. Changing your oil (I do not think) is the important factor. Not using the Vette very often is the thing and "initial start-up" is where the synthetic oil will plays a big part.

Modern SL standards make it difficult if not impossible to buy a "bad" oil. I use Castrol 10W-40. That gives a wide range of viscosity for the cool to hot Canadian driving season (May to October).

I use Kendal 10-30 because I get it for free. It comes in bulk so I have to pump it into 4 liter containers but the price is right.
