does anybody sell a GOOD elec window motor?
i have tried several...ZIP...NAPA...Auto Zone...even an automotive electric motor rebuild shop (actuall they were the worst offeders)
they are all JUNK!
ya...they are lifetime guarantee but i am sick of changing them!
it seems as tho everybodys idea of rebuilding them is to paint them black!
you open them up and nothing is new except mabe some grease...
i am beginning to wonder if i can bring them into a local elec motor shop and have them rebuilt for real...
and before you suggest regulators and cleaning the slides and all of the typical slow window remedys...i have already done it all...
all parts inside of the doors is brand new including regulators...
everything other than the motors is up to snuff...
but i cant get the motors to last more than 6 months to a year...
i would love to find a sorce for GOOD, STRONG motors that have been REALLY rebuilt...

I have the original motors in my 69... They still work great...but... I replaced on in a 71 that we had and it only lasted about a year so I know what you are going through. Don't know the answer though.

New motors are still available from GM. For the 1979 you purchase a motor
for a 1968-77 and a wiring harness adapter that plugs between the motor
and the factory wiring harness. Have seen these motors available from
the Last Detail, Zip or can purchase thru any GM dealer. They are about
$100 each plus about $7 for the wiring adapter.

When I bought my vette in '95 or so, I got my replacement motors from a GM junkyard OR pulled them from a scrapped '76 Bonne, not sure....at any rate, the ones in the car have never failed.....

My "Lifetime" motor also failed after one year. I bought a new one from Last Detail. I've only had it a few months so it is too soon to tell. I know I won't buy another "Lifetime" rebuild unless there is no option.
