Suggestions for rear speakers?
I saw the recent forum topic on complete stereo systems, but I'm looking for suggestions on just the rear speakers. Something moderately priced. Doesn't have to be integrated behind the rear wheel wells. I don't mind stand-alone enclosed box speakers on the rear deck. Preserving storage space is not a concern for me. My car currently has a set of Pioneer enclosed box speakers, but I'm not crazy about the frequency response from these. I'd be interested in your suggestions. Many thanks! - Nick

Re: Suggestions for rear speakers? (Tele_Man)
Did mine awhile back. Since rear speakers need a box & home speakers are already designed in a box, this is a fast solution. The disadvantage is that more power is required, easily solved w/ an amp. Considering the small interior volume guesstimated 2 8s would do it- move all the air in the car, i.e. feel it.. Could not find any that would fit & then read about some new speakers that had just came out & special ordered them. They had w/ 2 long throw 4s (equil. to 2 8s) & a dome in each.
The removable rear speakers are mounted angled some on an Al. rod & used an Al. bar between to separate. Later tweaked (an audiophile term for modified) the rear speakers w/ Pioneer car component dome tweeters. Also used my special wiring to speakers.
Rarely use it.
The engine makes enough music for me.

I have some similar to Ganey. I chose them for their press fit: you adjust them to grab unto the surface of the rug. No cutting or screw mounts to worry about.

Do a search on Ebay for "corvette speakers"... someone is making some very nice looking custom enclosures that will hold high end 6x9s. They look like they will press into the corners. I'm considering this when I complete my interrior.

I did a Google search and found this site: http://www.soundmove.com/speakers.htm
Scroll down and check out the product called a Soundbar.
Looks pretty good to me.

Or maybe I'd be able to hear this one above the noise from my engine.

Re: Suggestions for rear speakers? (Tele_Man)
Sorry for the rough pics, but I havent gotten around to carpeting the boxes. Took me maybe 2 hours to make the boxes. I can still get the removable window in and out, and lost no storage room. Those are only 5.5 inch speakers, 6 inch should fit fine though.
