Default Carpet definitions

W/all of this talk of carpeting, and the insulation&carpet job coming (looming?) in my near future, I wonder if you all could explain the terms? What is 80/20 VS. cut pile?

What's involved in getting matching carpet for the sides -door panels - (my '76 has the oem deluxe interior). Was 80/20 the original type?

Thanks

80/20 was the stock low loop carpet used for years and years. Plush carpet means the same 80/20 loop has the loops trimmed at the factory to arrive at a plush appearance as opposed to the loop. Plush cut carpet was reserved for the deluxe interior option in the early years, then became standard.
You should be able to order plush carpet for your car.

Thanks Easy Mike! Any idea how much backing thickness is possible before it interferes with carpet installation? What I'm thinking about is Dynomat + Reflective stuff, for a great combination of noise AND heat barriers. Is that too much to put under the carpet?

Thanks again
