I remember when I was younger putting one of these together and being amazed at how an engine works. I'm not sure if this is the same one, but it looks a lot like it. The one I assembled was operated by a battery that would rotate the engine and the spark plugs (actually little lights) would fire.

it's been a while, but yes. It seems to be based on a Studebaker or caddy V8. I saw a 1/4 scale visible hemi in a catalog the other day. It's also turned by a electric motor, but it doesn't have the LED spark plugs like the old Visible V8.

Built a Visible V8 at a very young age. I didn't think much of it.

Probably a good thing for older guys as well that are not high in 3D visualization, which is one reason there are so many topics like "would this look good".

I built the visible V8, visible man and visible woman models, as well as a mako shark, lots of bikes, tractor trailers, jaguar, ferrari, and others. When you can't have the real thing, you get what you can. Joe

MY dad got me the visible 4 cylinder Ford when I was 12 or so... was a neat thing!

Yep, I had two. The first one, I assembled the block, then started putting the two piece pistons together. The instructions said WAIT a few hours for the glue to dry on the pistons. Of course I couldn't wait, and I put them in and ended up with a locked up motor! Damn pistons were frozen in the cylinders.

My second one turned out just fine though!

Made you learn to read the instructions didn't it? I thought it was a great because I learned how engines worked.

Yep, the Visible V8 kit still exists if you hunt around the hobby stores. It no longer has the flashing spark plugs or an electric motor, just a crank on the back to turn it over. The quality isn't very good, the people I've talked to who have put it together say it takes a bit of plastic massaging to get everything to fit together right.

Yeah, that is cool, I remember building and playing with it when I was little.

Wish I still had it along with alot of cool old toys and models I had.
