Default Hooker Sidepipe Dilemma

Need some advice. I just got Hooker header sidepipes from Jet-Hot. The excitement of finally building up my '77 made me forget a key detail. I'm putting a fuel injection kit on the new motor and I need an O2 sensor. I'm going to call Jet-Hot and see if they can weld a bung into a tube and exchange it for one that I received plus whatever the extra cost of welding the bung and shipping the tube or tubes back to them. I've never seen the Hookers on a vette up close and in person and was wondering if there is room on the tube to weld in a bung, clear the frame/car, and yet still not be visible or hanging down if you're looking at the car from the side. Thanks for any info. I assumed it would be best to weld it in the tube rather than the collector since the tube and collector fit together.

i welded my own on the side of the passenger side header right at the 4 inch tube ,works fine i also did it so it faces the frame so you cant see it.I did cut a small notch in frame that i need to finish welding back up,kind of boxed it.Heres a pick before i notched frame.

Thanks for that info. I'm wondering if I should just keep what I have, install everything, put the bung where I want it and know it will work after everything is installed. Then down the road maybe I can get the tube recoated.

I drilled and welded a bung into mine at the collector. My Hookers are Jet Hot coated too, no problems. Its drilled at about the 4 or 4:30 position to clear the frame.

Chuck,
Were they jet-hot coated before you installed the bung? Or did you get them coated/recoated after you installed the bung? If before, did you paint over the weld with anything to cover it up?

79-L-82,
Sounds like a good deal!! :p: I'll have them overnighted to ya!!! lol.
