What is the best sidepipe look? With covers or without?
I'm trying to decide which way to go.
I'm not worried about burning my leg, just looks.
Please post a picture of both to help me decide.
Thanks.

Which sidepipes? Factory or Hooker?

Which sidepipes? Factory or Hooker?
or exposed pipes (Hookers) ?
I think it depends on the rest of the car. If you are basically stock ... ralley
wheels - no flares - no raised hood ... I would go with covers.
If your vette is sporting some nice aluminum wheels, and other body mods ...
I think the Hookers look better.
Either way, they look great.
EDIT: OK - looked over your past posts .... If this title from an old post still
holds true ... You probably want to consider the Hookers.

Without covers looks best to me, but be prepared because you WILL burn your leg sonner or later. Good thing is, you usually will only do it once.

If you want the power and cost is a factor...Hookers. If you want the look and some power loss is not a problem....Factory

Re: What is the best sidepipe look? With covers or without? (GrandSportC3)
I like the Hookers for looks and performance.
I am waiting for my Stainless headers to arrive. Due to be shipped from summit today
I have already received the side tubes and they look awesome. I can't tell the difference in finish from chrome I just hope I got the correct ones
I also purchased long Stainless covers from STS (JCL) to keep the wife happy. Wasn't allowed to get sidepipes without covers because the kids might get burned, but the covers look great. Can't wait to get it all fitted I did consider the AC Cobra style covers but they look a bit flimsy to me.
So the factory style covers aren't the only option.
Cheers
Mick

You can always make some custom, better flowing sidepipes (upto 3") that fit under the factory covers....best of both worlds in my opinion.

Re: What is the best sidepipe look? With covers or without? (lvrpool32)
Yes my 434ci SBC will need the flow.
I bought a black set of Hooker headers and modified the one primary that was to close to a plug. They are now being Jet Hot coated.
Side pipes will be 4" truck stacks 45" long Jet Hot coated too.
STS baffles will finish it off.
Thanks for all the input. I was unsure if I should try putting covers over the sidepipes or not.
I have decided NOT.

Re: What is the best sidepipe look? With covers or without? (WESCH)
WESCH- did you get those covers from Alex Fok at Cobra Stuff? They are exactly the ones that I ordered last week for $180.
I have a black car and the black hooker pipes, and the covers will accent very well. I am so glad you posted a pic, they look to fit well. Any issues? I'll post pice too once installed.
