Default Question regarding mods for 327.

I have just purchased a 1968 convertible with a 327. The engine is numbers matching from what I can tell. It has been unused for many years so I am taking it to a local auto shop to have it gone through.

My question; I want to add as many go-fast stuff as I can. What can I do and still remain numbers matching? Any specific parts recommendations/suppliers??? What should I expect from the mods?

Thanks!

numbers matching is numbers matching, wont matter if you mod it or not.
if you want to keep originality however, thats a different story.

I'd go with a solid lifter cam (something like a 327-365horse cam)

good flow heads (64cc w 2.02/1.60 valves)

10.5:1 compression

Demon 625 carb..

Should be able to get at least 290-315 to the wheels depending the rest of the setup

Have the heads "pocket ported" along with 2.02/1.6 valves installed (will already have these if it's an L79 motor.) The best "stock type" manifold mods are done by Brezinski Racing and add early 2.5" rams horn exhaust manifolds (again Brezinski has "ported" versions avaliable.) You need the 64/65 high performance exhaust system to Dynomax/Magnaflow "stock type" mufflers. The Pertronix Ignitor electronic ignition system will "hide" in your distributor along with one of their black coils and black 7mm spiral core plug wire sets. I would run a Comp Cams XE264 cam (about the size of the 350HP L79 cam.) You should wid up with an "improved" L79 motor at around 370-85 HP.

Solid LT-1 you amaze me becuase that's exactly what I got on my L-79 with the exception of (soon to be installed) HTC Hedman hdrs. and Allen's chambered exhaust.
