Powerglide Experts. Need Help!
Please see my post in the C2 area. They are nice people over there but the population is much smaller. Hence the response time can be stretched. Would appreciate the comments of those here re Powerglide transmissions. Many thanks!

Just to close this thread out. I got some excellent advice from the folks over at C2. Did some minor fiddling/tweaking this morning and driving this afternoon. The car runs much better; in fact it scared the Wife who expected a leisurely Sunday afternoon drive. Basically just took out some slop in the throttle and kick-down rods.
And just an aside for you WOT people. Floor mats under your gas pedal can limit acceleration ;) . No further comment on that....

George,
I eat crow this evening. The secondaries on a Holley 4160 open up when the floor mat is removed. The C2 gas pedal is much different from a C3 like my 1979. It is very short throw. I noticed this immediately when I got the 1967 last summer. Throttle response is very different. So any little mat in the way can...make me embarrassed. In any case live and learn. BTW a 327/300 with Powerglide when set up does move very nicely! I was very surprised! Those 327s do rev very quickly!
When I tried the adjustments today I was watching the tach and speedo. Watch out! The darn thing shifted in Drive from Low at about 70mph and kept climbing. I backed off at about 95mph. I am not a high-speed driver so I was relieved to get way from that trial without a ticket.
Just a few thoughts that are perhaps not pertinent to C3s but nevertheless relevant. We see so many posts on cams. And people love the high-rpm versions. But what is the typical rpm driving range? I would say 1,000 to 5,000. I do not know what cam is in my 327 but it sure performs well up to 5,000rpm when Powerglide now shifts. For most of us a modest cam is all we need. For basic driving they are just fine. Just a point of view. Thanks!
And these old engines are pretty. Doing a charity event soon so I get getting things spic and span!
