Default Exhaust Problems

My dad has this 77, and there is no clearance under the exhaust right before the mufflers. The thing will rub on a pop can. Is this normal? Could it be the leaf springs or shocks are too worn out? The butt end doesn't squat too much either. Any insight will help, it's frustrating to drive it because sparks are always flying! Thanks.

Default Re: Exhaust Problems (Pewterboy)

The place where the pipes should be closest to the ground is directly under the rear end. If your pipes are lower near the mufflers, they need to be repositioned by separating and rehanging them. That might be impossible if the pipes are old. Good luck.
