2nd opinion
I need a second opinion to go with my 1977 Stingray post...
I picked up a nice 77 about 6 weeks ago and am working on a frame on restoration. I'm getting close to paint, and am hung up on color. It's NOT going to be the origonal Corvette Tan it left St. Louis with...
I like black, but I live in Las Vegas and the A/C is less than stellar (even after a complete rebuild) so that's out.
I'm leaning towards brighter than hell fire engine/Ferrari red, Sebring Silver (I have a 96 LT4 CE Roadster, so matching that could be cool) or a bright blue.
I thought about seeing what the one 77 that was painted "Corvette Chartreuse" would look like, but my girlfriend nixed that idea... :cry
It has a black interior now, so pretty much anything would work.
Wadda ya'll think? Got a picture of a 74-77 you really like? Post it and lets see what it looks like...
Thanks in advance!

Nice!
I do love black. I've often said that you can take a 78 Pinto, paint it black, tint the windows and put some nice wheels on it and you have a car that will turn heads!

Re: 2nd opinion (DanZR1)
I origionally was going to paint my car black but decided not to after cruising with a couple of my friends in Black vettes who basically were ignored driving downt he street and I received all the attention. My $.02

Re: 2nd opinion (DanZR1)
I've read a couple scientific studies that show for all practical purposes the exterior color of a car makes no difference in the interior temp. Over a period of several hours the black car was a times a degree or two higher than the white car.
What I would like to do if I had the extra cash is to paint my car black, then put a few coats of translucent red, followed by a clear coat of course.

I will ONLY wash my Vette before sun-up, at dusk, or even DURING a mild rain, but my Red Z28 can be washed whenever I choose.
Since originality doesn't concern you, why not consider '80/'81 Yellow, which (I think) would look good out in the sun...

Re: 2nd opinion (1LE)
This red is the red found on the 4th gen Camaro/Firebirds. Since I have two 4th gen Camaro's I wanted the Vett to look the same.
Anyone have a silver C3? I sure would like to see a what that could look like...

Re: 2nd opinion (DanZR1)
I bought my '71 in '84. It was a beat WBY. My pops said "Nice car Steve, where did it get that Baby SH-T Yellow color from"?{He had 6 kids} WBY HAD to go. The guys who painted it tried to talk me out of it but the color IS Ford code 2U. Only available on turbo coupes of the mid '80s. Its a kinda red/metallic. Checked GM, Chyrsler, Ford reds and ford won. The car is still a turner. NCRS be damned, let the next gut live with WBY.
