Problem removing struts on a 79
I tried to change the struts(shocks) on my 79 today. I removed the nut on top,and tried to remove the two bolts on the bottom. One came out easily the other loosened a bit then began spinning. When I felt it with my finger I realized the bolt had strange head. I looked at my assembly manual and i think the part thats spinning is the weld nut. I never had this trouble with the 78. How do I get the weld nut off or at least get it tightened again. :conehead

Re: Problem removing struts on a 79 (A78Corvette)
After getting an e mail I believe I have a weld nut spinning on both front control arms. Will this mean removing both lower control arms? Do I need to have these welded back or buy new control arms? :skep:

The nuts are just tack welded to the lower control arm. If you have a MIG welder you can weld them in place. I run a bolt up to hold the nut in position then you can get the MIG gun in between the coil spring and shoot it.

... or you can just use a hex nut ... wrench through the coils.
