Under the "stock" hood that is....
This is the combo I want to run, but I'm not sure if it will fit. Has anybody run this (or a similar) set up and fit it WITH the aircleaner under a stock hood?

I'm gonna say no, I've never heard of anyone fitting a high rise intake of any make under any stock hood.

The stock 454 uses a "low rise" intake to clear the hood. So if the intake is listed as a "high rise" then, more then likely, it will not clear.

I kinda suspected that...but reinforcement from the troops always helps!! :flag
By going with the Performer low rise, what will I be sacrificing?? I'm running a 454 bored .030, balanced, 206 heads (97.2cc), Comp ratio at 9.5:1, .552/.555 lift cam, 1800 stall converter, 3.08 rear
Whattya think...will the "low rise" hurt me that much?

Re: Question: (73L48 Dave)
Hey Dave, if you match the ports, clean out any casting flash(dingleberries) in the runners, and do a little work in the plenum , it really helps. If you are experienced with a die grinder you could also open up the runners a little . What rpm range are you looking for ?

Betcha even the low-riser won't fit. After being on the forum here for about 2 yrs, the only intakes that I've seen posted on that fit under a stock cowl hood are the GM LS6 intake and the Edelbrock Torker II. We are very limited in intake selection unless you mold in a scoop, lower the engine or get an L88 hood.

Brent -- Well, as far as RPM range goes, withing the limitations of my cam...the 1500-6000 range (give or take)
Brett -- I'm finding that out in a big hurry. Well, it looks like I'm going to stick with my original plan, but drop an L88 hood on it for clearance....which is OK because I like the looks of them :D
Now it's off to the parts for sale/wanted section in search of an L88 hood
