should I raise H about my new paint?
Got my car painted and it took way too much time but I thought it wouldn't be a good idea to rush them. Anyway, I didn't ask for "show" paint only a good job. It cost me over $3000. The car wasn't that bad to begin with and I replaced both front and back skins where most of the problems were. The problem is that when I got it home I found some small golf ball size places and one place on the rear skin the size of my hand that looks like residue from tape. They had to repaint a small spot near the door and covered the entire car to keep off overspray so that's the reason I thought it was glue even though I can't feel it by hand. I asked the painter about it and he said the plastic got some moisture on it overnight while the spot on the door dried and it was what I saw. He said that the moisture would come out of the paint over time. I'm starting to wonder about his excuse.
Anyone know about this moisture in paint stuff? Will it come out eventually? Should I raise some heck with this guy? :mad

I am not a paint expert, but I don't think stuff coes out of paint over time. I would ask for him to take care of it.

I get those damn marks from plastic sheeting sometimes (well, I use a sheet under it if I use it now). They won't go away. Whether it's tape marks or plastic marks, have him buff it so they go away.

I took mine back three times before they got it right. They hated me, but I got what I wanted.

The only thing moisture is going to do is lift the paint and leave a heck of a bubble until it finally chips off. I don't think you really want that to happen do you?
Give 'em hell and make it right!!!!! I'm not sure color sanding and compounding will cure that problem.

Thanks everyone. I thinking of taking it to another paint shop and ask about it before I take it back to the painter so at least I've have some ammo with a professional opinion locally.
Sounds like the guy just wanted me out of the garage with the least amount of effort. He just opened his own shop last year and had been in the business of painting for 25 years, you think he'd want it perfect. :mad

had the same isue with my old 77. If he color sands it then it will come out rather easily. no amount of buffing will remve it trust me I know.
