exhaust popping noise????

Default exhaust popping noise????
what would cause a popping sound in exhaust, seems to be only on left side of my motor? motor is newly rebuilt, heads had valve job but not new springs.

check for a exhaust leak first, they can be a pain in the azzzz

does the popping only happen when you de-accelerate? if so then its pry an exhaust leak.

it does it while it idles, about 850 rpm, correct for 427 car?

it pops thru exhaust only when at idle????

It could be unspent gas lighting up in the exhaust. Could be a weak spark problem.
