Default How many quarts/liters to fill a bone dry TH400 and new convertor?

I have had many opinions on this, and even my three manuals say something different form each other! So how much fluid does it take, and is there a certain procedure I should follow for the initial fill? Thanks

Put car on jack stands , put 6 Qts in Crank car put trans in reverse when wheels start turning hit brakes and put in drive add 2Qts and hit brakes and put in park check fluid level add to full mark , the amount varies with pan depth . Remember always check level with car running and in park at operating temps.
