anyone fit a supercharger under the hood?
I've got a 70 vert, 350 with the big block hood. Would I be able to fit a paxton novi 2000 or a vortech supercharger under there with a carb enclosure?
Thanks
Joe

The carb enclosure should fit. The problem is the sc is mounted almost as high as teh carb enclosure. That will most likely cuase clearance problems, the tubing is also very high. Should fit if you can find brackets to relocate the supercharger down a few inches. Procharger also has superchargers that will fit on a carbed sbc. It isnt on their website, but is in their catalogue. You can request one for free. There is a 63 vette in the mag that is runnign a vortech with a 400sb, and a stock looking hood. The prochargers use a carb bonnet, not the carb enclosure like paxton does. I think the vortech sc is the same thing as the paxton. If i remember correctly, one of those companies bought the other out.

wow, thanks, not at all what I was thinking. Thats a "roots" type blower correct? I was thinking a centrifugal type, but that setup is nice. I do have a question though... is that a side mount carburetor, or a throttle body? I cant tell from the picture. Where can I find more info on this setup? I am going to head over to the B&M site now to see to it.
Thanks again

a "roots" type blower - Yes
side mount carburetor - yes
Where can I find more info on this setup - I would start by calling the guy in the ebay ad.
Holley - which bought out B&M has an awesome tech support line you can call them.
The blower portion of the setup you can still get from Holley, but the carb setup I'm afraid is no longer available new - You'll have to search for used parts....... And GOOD LUCK with that but I'm sure it's possible.
If you come up with any more info keep us posted

it's about the same as the one pictured above (the manifold & carbs), this one is an inglese setup with 4 45dcoe webers and custom made fuel lines & airboxes... nice huh :) it ain't mine :) I have something similar but a little different, custom manifold & 4 Dellorto DHLA 45 tri jets.

That setup might make engine maintenance a little harder huh? Extra long dipstick anyone

That setup is well engineered and it's perfectly possible to get to the dipstick,. I have about the same room on the sides of my carbs and I can get to it too, no problem whatsoever. The only area that requires disassembly of the system is setting valve lash but when using a normal single carb intake & carb you can just dial in the lash, check for other things and when done swap to the multi carb system. The dial in & synchro all the carbs and be done with it.
Who cares if it's a little more work, to be beautiful you have to suffer a little.

Im keen to do this with my 70 BB coupe. Had a buggered small Vortech but couldnt see how it would mount, and intake would be too close to head (pass side). Yesterday someone told me I could get a 90 degree drive unit and that looks very promising. Intake would face wheel arch and blower would mount off head and waterpump. Might even fit under bonnet.
Ive got a set of 8.75 forged slugs waiting.

I dont want to be the person who is going to calibrate those carbs..I feel that one carb is almost to much and that thing has 4.. :lolg:
I really like the looks of that setup though..
