i slip fit the mufflers for easy swapping
instead of clamps(which make it hard to get apart)
i used 10-32 screws to lock the pipes in place.
a little lighter too. and they aren't there to drag on speed bumps

I have on a section of my pipes the Stainless band type muffler clamps. These do not leak at all and do not crush the pipes. I have had my system apart many times and reuse the clamps over again. These are the same ones you see on the diesel trucks. They work great.

Gordon, that's was I use too. I go to NAPA get a 2.5 exhaust pipe coupling and use the SS band clamps over it. sock them tight with an impact gun. I little high temp never sieze works too. Truck suppliers have them for $7 vs the higher prices in the catalogs. Also picked up the same brand at a swap meet for a $1 each last year.

Seriously, I used a true slip fit (or maybe you would call it a press fit) in the beginning. A hard jab of the throttle would blow the glasspacks off, the hangers would pull the glasspacks out of the way & ready to race.

I like slip fits too and also hate clamps. I use little tabs on the muffler and pipe that a bolt goes through to bolt them on. Works like a champ and makes for easy removal.

That'll get rid off the loose nut behind it :)
on second thought maybe your description is more accurate.

i suggest zerk fittings at the muffler joints, and tell the kid at jiffy lube to be sure to grease the muffler bearings :jester

Why do I keep thinking of muffler bearings and blinker fluid?

how about we slip fit the passenger seat, for quick removal, to bring big stuff home from the store?
