Default 1975 Corvette 4 Speed Owners, GTR1999.....

Judged a 1975 1585mi Silver/Silver Leather L-82 4spd roadster with Z07 at the NCRS Wildwood Regional this past weekend. It had the u-joint saddle caps on the yokes & spindles. I thought this stopped with the bigblocks  Do '75 4spd cars have it this way too, or I'm wondering if this car was this way because it was a Z07 car. Also, FE7 is part of the Z07 package.

My 75 L-82 had the caps for sure. Has the HD suspension - 7 leaf(gone),rear bar, Hd shocks(gone) & front springs.

Gary, thanks-now you got me wondering about L-48 4spd cars OR non-HD suspension cars. Hopefully a few '75 L-48 4spd owners will chime in here. :yesnod:

Caps on my '75 L48 automatic side yokes (9 leaf spring).

(They have either caps and bolts or straps and nuts)

Paul, yes they are on mine also.

According to the AIM "Cap is used for &L82 &GV4; &GS4/GU2/GV7" being aware that the AIM is not always correct, with changes..... So it seems that it is for L82, not trans specific, or suspension specific, but related to rear end durability?

Paul,
My L82 is still in storage but I should be getting it out this weekend. Just so I am sure what you are asking.

The u-joint saddle caps - are they supposed to be on the propeller (drive) shaft and/or on the half (axle) shafts?

Jim, he's talking about the half-shafts..... not the drive shaft.

Jim, my '75 is an L-82/Turbo 400 car and has never been changed or altered. Another poster said L-82s should have the caps  Maybe it's just the 4spd cars period that had the caps like the previous C3 bigblocks  I do not know about the drive shaft on 4spd cars, but mine has the straps at all six u-joints.
