Just finished up the speaker install which completes this project. Head unit is a Kenwood KDC-MP825 with a Kenwood 10gig Music Keg.

Looks like a good install to me
What did you use for speakers.....
Hope you didn't make the mistake I made. A while back I installed a Pioneer CD/Player/Radio with only one pre-out?
Then this weekend when I had 12" Punch Sub-Woofer along with amp installed. The shop told me it could not be done without more pre-outs.
So guess what....I had to purchase new CD player with 3 pre-outs.
Now the system kicks...

Re: Radio Install On My 81 (8T1-7T9 BIONIC VETTE)
when the shop told you that you need another deck i bet they said that we can sell you a deck to suit, if you get an eletronic active crossover you can plug in more amps without changing the deck and you can control volume and so on through the crossover. :seeya

I'll be installing a new radio/cd and speakers in my 81 next week.

Make sure you install head with more than one pre-out.
Maybe some time in the future you might want extra punch in your system.

I asked them if there was another way...and they explained the electronic cross over. They also told me it would not allow me the same control as the extra pre-out head. My experience with car stereo systems is minimal.....I wanted full control over all phases of the system......There's two amps...One for highs and one for the Punch Sub-Woofer....Now I can move sound side to side...front to back....cross over bring bass up or down and control highs/lows with one botton. Wish it could get me into the 10's in the quarter. :D

Re: Radio Install On My 81 (JLinNY)
Thanks guys!!
AK: I ordered the head unit from Crutchfield and they included a wiring adapter. It was a very smooth install.
8T1: I went with Kenwood 3 way 6x9s in the rear and Kenwood 4x6s in the dash. I believe this head unit has 3 sets of pre-outs, but that's really not an issue for me as I won't be doing anything else to the setup. It's perfect for me as it is.
Pauld: No enclosure, everything went into the stock locations.
