Default interesting oil pressure gauge

First off, this is just for interest. I have changed my sender 3 times and have a new gauge for the next time I have the panel out and I run a mechanical gauge also. For five years when I start the car in the spring the gauge reads correct. If I just take short local drives the gauge reads correct. The first time I take it on a long trip and it gets good and warm, the next time I use the car it will read half of what it should. It will stay that way for the rest of the summer. Let it sit over the winter and in the spring it will read correct again. I have just found the correct radio so will be taking the panel out and fix the gauge but I sure have never had that happen before. Anyone else?
